Seattle Visitor Guide
Getting Around
Traffic can be heavy, but Seattle offers great public transit.
The Link Light Rail connects Sea-Tac Airport straight to downtown. To travel between downtown (Westlake) and the Space Needle, take the Seattle Center Monorail - it takes just two minutes and costs only $4.00 for a one-way adult ticket.
For buses and ferries, consider picking up a reloadable ORCA card.
Weather Prep
The rumor is true: it rains here. However, it is usually a light drizzle rather than a downpour.
Locals rarely use umbrellas. Instead, bring a water-resistant hooded jacket and dress in layers, as mornings can be chilly but afternoons often clear up beautifully.
Comfortable walking shoes are a must for our hilly downtown streets.
Local Culture
Seattle is fueled by caffeine and the outdoors. Skip the global chains and grab an espresso from one of the hundreds of independent coffee roasters in town.
When you are not sightseeing, do as the locals do: hit the trails, browse a neighborhood farmers market, or grab a locally brewed craft beer.
